Job Overview:
A law firm in New York is seeking a mid- to senior-level Private Equity/M&A Associate to join their corporate group. This position is ideal for an attorney with significant experience in private equity and M&A transactions, particularly advising clients on buyout transactions, co-investment, joint ventures, co-sponsor transactions, and add-on acquisitions. The role offers the opportunity to take ownership of transactions with limited supervision and work in a collaborative environment with a focus on superior client service.
Duties:
Advise private equity/institutional clients and their portfolio companies on a wide range of M&A and private equity transactions
Handle buyout transactions, co-investment, joint ventures, co-sponsor transactions, and add-on acquisitions
Run transactions with limited supervision and manage client relationships
Collaborate with team members and assist in complex corporate transactions
Provide superior client service, leveraging excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Manage deal negotiations, document drafting, and due diligence
Exercise sound judgment and offer practical legal advice
Requirements:
5 to 7 years of relevant experience in private equity/M&A transactions in a law firm setting
Ability to manage transactions independently and in a team-oriented environment
Strong interpersonal skills and willingness to collaborate with clients and colleagues
Excellent client service orientation and a demonstrated strong work ethic
Good judgment and ability to handle complex matters
Membership in good standing with the New York bar
Education:
Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
Certifications:
New York State Bar membership (active and in good standing)
Skills:
Extensive experience with private equity and M&A transactions
Expertise in advising clients on buyout transactions, joint ventures, co-investment, and add-on acquisitions
Ability to run transactions with limited supervision
Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills
Exceptional legal research, drafting, and negotiation skills
High level of client service and strong work ethic
Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
