Job Description & RequirementsGeneral Information:\nHospital Information:\nInpatient: 353 Fairmont Blvd. Rapid City, SD 57701\nOutpatient: 955 East North Street, Suite 200, Rapid City, SD 57701\nRNs will be expected to float between the Inpatient and Outpatient areas\nDialysis Unit Information:\nInpatient: Unit Chairs: 7 Chairs AND Portable (bedside) dialysis machines\nOutpatient: Chairs: 36 chairs (4 of the chairs are isolation rooms); Patient scheduling software: ScheduleWise\nOperation:\nInpatient: Monday – Saturday; On call dialysis nurse for night coverage and Sunday\nOutpatient: Monday – Saturday; 2.5 patient shifts a day\nRequired Experience:\nDialysis experience: At least two years Hemodialysis dialysis experience\nTravel experience required: Yes; at least (1) 13-wk assignment\nPatient Types:\nInpatient: Acute and chronic dialysis patients admitted to the hospital; CRRT and plasmapheresis not completed by dialysis nurses\nOutpatient: Chronic dialysis patients\nPatient Ratios:\nInpatient: 1:2 to 3 depending on staffing and acuity; Bedside: 1:1\nOutpatient: 1:8 patients\nPartnered with either two dialysis technicians or 1 dialysis technician and one licensed practical nurse (LPN)\nDaily Staffing/Support within Department:\nInpatient:\n1 charge nurse\n2 staff nurses\n1 bedside nurse (Upon staffing availability)\n1 nurse on call\nMonday – Saturday: Night call\nSunday: 24-hour call\nOutpatient:\n1 charge nurse\n4 staff nurses\n1 isolation/float nurse: based upon staffing availability\n8 dialysis technicians and/or LPNs\nEducation:\nCompletion of a nursing education program that is approved by a board of nursing\nRegistered Nurse (RN) License: South Dakota or compact state\nSkills Required:\nHemodialysis experience\nMust be competent in accessing and troubleshooting fistulas/grafts\nRequired Certifications:\nBasic Life Support (BLS): Required\nDL required – will float between facilities\nCharting System/Equipment:\nEPIC – required\nFresenius 2008T BlueStar Hemodialysis Machine (preferred)\nWRO 300/300H Portable Reverse Osmosis System (preferred)\nFloating:\nWill be expected to float between both inpatient and outpatient\nOrientation:\nOne week of orientation (Over 36 hours required for first week of orientation for training purposes)\nGeneral hospital and department orientation: 1 day (8 hours)\nThree staff shifts\nScheduling:\nCall Required: One on call shift a week\nMonday – Saturday: 12-hour night call (2000-0800)\nCould be after a working shift but doesn’t have\nSunday: 24-hour call (0800-0800)\nYou will be scheduled off work the day your call ends\nResponse Time? 30 minutes\nWeekend Rotation:\nEvery other Saturday\nFriday is not a part of the weekend\nYou may be scheduled for Friday night call on your weekend off\nSunday is a part of the weekend\nIf it is your weekend to work, you may be scheduled for Saturday night or Sunday on call shifts\nIf it is your weekend off, you will not be scheduled for Saturday night or Sunday on call shifts \nApproval of time off: Manager approval\nHolidays: Work all holidays if they fall within the week (clinic WILL be open). With the exception Thanksgiving and Christmas but will have to work a Sunday to make up for the holiday.
