RN – Psychiatric

Facility: Mount Sinai West
Location: 1000 10th Ave, New York, NY 10019
Shift: Night | 3x12-Hour (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) | Every Other Weekend & Holidays as Needed

  Unit Details:

• Unit Type: Acute Inpatient Psychiatry – Adult Psych Unit
• Average Census: 22–32 patients, with 5 EOB beds
• Staffing Ratio: 1:7 (with 3–4 PCAs)
• Charting System: Epic (highly preferred)

Experience & Requirements:

• Education: BSN required (Associate degree considered only with relevant experience and/or active BSN enrollment)
• Licensure: Active NYS RN License
• Certifications:
  • BLS (AHA)
  • CPI or PMCS Certification (required)
• Experience:
  • Minimum 2 years of psychiatric RN experience
  • Minimum 2 years total RN experience

Position Overview:

The Clinical Nurse provides safe, evidence-based, and patient-centered care in an acute inpatient psychiatric setting, following Mount Sinai’s Relationship Centered Care model. Responsibilities include:

• Delivering direct patient care using the nursing process and critical thinking.
• Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams for individualized care plans.
• Managing patient education, discharge planning, and teaching.
• Upholding quality, safety, and documentation standards.
• Participating in quality improvement and shared governance initiatives.
• Acting as charge nurse when assigned and supporting patient throughput.

• Orientation: SEL and SCR forms required for onboarding
• Dress Code: Per facility standards
• Patient Ratio: 1:7
• Weekend & Holiday Requirement: Every other weekend, holidays as scheduled
