The Staff Accountant will support the organization’s financial operations by ensuring accurate financial records, managing financial reports, general ledgers, budgets, and bookkeeping. This role is essential for maintaining compliance with financial regulations and contributing to the organization’s financial health. The Staff Accountant will also be expected to maintain and reconcile the general ledger while preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes. They will prepare financial reports in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for non-profits, ensuring accuracy for stakeholders. Additionally, the role involves tracking and reporting on restricted funds, ensuring proper expense allocation, and maintaining compliance with grant requirements.

Supporting accounts payable and receivable functions is also a key responsibility, along with regularly reconciling bank and financial accounts. The Staff Accountant will assist with external audits, help develop and monitor the annual budget, and ensure compliance with financial reporting regulations.

Requirements:

Candidates should be proficient in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) and MS Excel, with a strong understanding of GAAP for non-profits. Attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively are essential. A bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred, along with 2-3 years of accounting experience, preferably in a non-profit environment. Experience with fund accounting and grant reporting is desirable.

Candidates must be able to remain stationary for 50% of the time and occasionally move around the office. This is a full-time position, typically 40 hours per week, with occasional evenings or weekends as needed. Hybrid options may be available with in-office attendance 3 to 4 days a week, fostering collaboration while maintaining flexibility, and reasonable accommodations for disabilities will be provided.
