SR OAS Administrator at Global Data Consultants summary:
The Senior OAS Administrator leads the architecture, design, and support of complex Intel-based virtual computing environments, ensuring high availability and security compliance for VDI systems. They oversee incident management, project delivery, and strategic improvements while coordinating hardware upgrades and disaster recovery policies. This role requires deep expertise in virtualization, server management, and collaboration with IT teams to meet business and technical objectives.
Overview GDC IT Solutions is currently seeking a Senior OAS Administrator to work in a hybrid capacity, offers the flexibility of remote work with 1 required day onsite each week, and is based in Harrisburg, PA. Position Overview As a Senior OAS Administrator, you will be responsible for the architecture, design, and support of complex Intel-based virtual computing environments that underpin key Agency services.
Responsibilities - Lead the planning and strategy for Virtual Machine guests, host clusters, virtual networks, and I/O high availability for VDI environments.
- Provide high-level expertise in the architecture, design, availability, and backup of VDI clustered environments.
- Lead the team in support of incident management, project delivery, and compliance activities.
- Develop migration plans for major VDI system upgrades.
- Collaborate with IT teams to understand business needs and deliver process, project, and service improvements.
- Ensure VDI environments meet security and compliance requirements.
- Monitor service level agreements to maximize business value.
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve VDI efficiency and effectiveness.
- Measure and track performance using tools to ensure service targets are met.
- Lead the team to enhance performance and achieve strategic objectives.
- Coordinate maintenance of Disaster Recovery retention policies and collaborate with application owners.
- Create system images used to build new servers to DoD STIG standards.
- Design, maintain, and document server configurations and layouts.
- Coordinate hardware and firmware upgrades across multiple platforms.
- Apply emergency and hot fixes to Intel operating systems.
- Troubleshoot production and implementation issues related to Intel-based applications, establish root cause, and recommend solutions.
- Ensure security guidelines are implemented and audited.
Minimum Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field and 5-10+ years of experience with Intel/ESX environments, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Proficient in troubleshooting complex technical problems.
- Demonstrated success in delivering complex initiatives within scope, time, and quality expectations.
- Ability to communicate effectively at a highly technical level with peers and IT staff.
- Strong understanding of Intel virtualized environments, SQL Server environments, imaging systems on Intel platforms, Storage Area Networks, and Disaster Recovery strategies.
Preferred Experience - Recognized industry Administrator certification.
- Additional job-related certifications, secondary education, or specialized experience.
