Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Certification Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team. In this role, you will lead and support FAA certification efforts for aircraft modification projects, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements while collaborating closely with internal teams, suppliers, customers, and regulatory authorities. Position Summary The Senior Certification Engineer is responsible for developing, managing, and executing FAA certification plans for aircraft systems and interiors. You will prepare substantiation documents, lead regulatory discussions, and manage all facets of certification for STC and PMA programs. Job Responsibilities Develop and manage certification plans, compliance checklists, and conformity inspection plans Prepare substantiation reports and test documentation for flammability and cabin safety Draft and present certification materials for internal and external meetings Manage STC / PMA projects, including data deliverables and communication with suppliers Coordinate responses to significant certification issues, airworthiness concerns, and inquiries Determine applicable airworthiness requirements for proposed design modifications Serve as a liaison with FAA regulatory agencies and present project overviews when needed Interface directly with customers, suppliers, and stakeholders to ensure certification compliance across modification projects Qualifications B.S. degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related scientific field strongly preferred 4 to 7 years of relevant engineering experience (internships and co-op assignments may be considered) Working knowledge of FAA certification processes and substantiation techniques Proficient in MS Office programs with strong overall computer skills Familiarity with aircraft mechanical and structural design processes, fabrication methods, materials, and aerospace hardware Highly organized with strong communication skills and a professional demeanor Preferred Skills Experience in certification, design, or substantiation engineering roles Knowledge of aircraft interiors and interior modification projects About STS Technical Services STS Technical Services is a Top 100 Staffing Firm that’s partnered with some of the largest names in the aerospace, manufacturing, defense, and industrial industries.
