Base Pay Range $60,000.00/hr - $60,000.00/hr Salary: $65,000.00/year Position Purpose Under the guidance and direction of the Dean of Workforce Development and working with the Program Manager for Sports Management, this faculty member will teach 20 contact hours per autumn and spring semesters with some responsibilities during the summer academic term. The faculty member will assist with program review and accreditation efforts, supervise adjunct faculty, help create and implement a youth recreation/sports program in Nelsonville, and support the planning of summer youth camps to provide internship experiences for students. Duties and Responsibilities Teaches 20 contact hours during the autumn and spring academic terms. Courses are determined by the program manager. Manages student files, including processing applications, documenting, using spreadsheets (such as Excel), and databases (such as Colleague, Self Service, and Blackboard); tracks student progress in cross‑disciplinary areas and updates records. Advises one‑half of the student population enrolled in the sports management program. Participates in department and school activities. In cooperation with the Dean and program manager, manages curriculum, creates course schedules, assists with faculty and student issues, coordinates professional development for faculty, coordinates adjunct assignments, completes adjunct faculty evaluations, and participates in special projects. Responsible coaching duties as assigned. Develops career pathways/tracks for the program. Ensures College policies are communicated and followed. Participates in grant development and manages grant funding aspects. Manages external accreditation of the program. Serves on committees as assigned by the Dean and program manager. Develops transfer pathways to bachelor’s and master’s degree programs. Performs student academic program development and advising activities. Encourages student involvement in the advising process, maintains sufficient advising hours, meets with advisees at least twice per semester, and provides support for students facing difficulties in class or clinical work. Maintains appropriate advisee files and directs students to appropriate resources. Periodically evaluates graduation progress and completes graduation application reviews prior to final approval by the Dean. Assists in coordination with CCP liaisons for site visits for college credit. Participates in academic affairs and institutional activities as directed by the Dean. Participates in student enrollment activities (recruiting and registration) and contributes to the assessment of student academic achievement. Helps develop articulation agreements with a minimum of six colleges in a 2+2 or 3+1 transfer agreement, forms partnerships with four‑year schools, and continuously improves curriculum. Creates pathways with high schools and career centers in collaboration with the career center for bachelor’s degree completion. Maintains a safe working area and conditions. Performs other job‑related duties as assigned. Qualifications – Education, Experience, and Skills Master’s degree in Sports Management or a related discipline and at least 18 semester credit hours of graduate coursework relevant to the discipline. Degree from a regionally or nationally accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent. 1‑2 years of teaching and/or management experience. Preference if the candidate can also serve as head coach for a varsity athletic team that currently has no head coach. Excellent communication skills (written and verbal). Strong technology skills, including use of email, student information systems, and learning management systems. Organizational, record‑keeping, and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of subject area, educational theory and application, learner and individual learning styles, and a learner‑centered educational process. Educational technology skills. Confidentiality and caring attitude toward students. Learning and self‑motivation skills, willingness to extend self to help students succeed. Knowledge of college resources available to students, organizational structure, programs, objectives, and requirements. Openness to suggestions for improvement, attention to detail, flexibility in dealing with others, ability to work as a team member, and ability to prioritize work.
