Job Description

Seeking a skilled Sign Language Interpreter for a K-12 school setting in Easton, PA. This is a contractual position for the full school year, providing essential communication support to students with hearing impairments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Facilitate effective communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and their teachers, peers, and staff.
• Interpret spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa during classroom instruction, meetings, and events.
• Collaborate with educators and support personnel to create an inclusive learning environment.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional standards in all communications.
• Assist with extracurricular activities requiring interpretation.

Qualifications:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with certification or equivalent experience as a Sign Language Interpreter.
• Experience working with children in an educational environment, preferably K-12.
• Strong understanding of Deaf culture and communication nuances.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team.
• Ability to adapt and manage multiple responsibilities in a dynamic school setting.
