We are recruiting on behalf of our client for a Senior Microsoft Engineering Consultant to join their dynamic team. This role is ideal for an experienced IT Engineer with 6-8 years of experience in enterprise IT engineering support, cloud computing, and consulting. The Senior Microsoft Engineering Consultant will play a key role in assessing, designing, implementing, and supporting IT systems that align with business objectives while proactively preventing potential technology issues and identifying opportunities for digital transformation.

This position is based in Durham, NC, with a hybrid work schedule. Remote candidates may be considered, though some client engagements will require business travel.

Key Responsibilities:

* Client Engagement & IT Strategy:

* Engage proactively with multiple clients, ensuring high-quality service delivery while collaborating with stakeholders and leadership to drive successful technology solutions.

* Provide strategic IT consulting for mergers and acquisitions, including integration planning and execution.

* Drive business development efforts, cultivating relationships with existing clients and identifying new opportunities.

* Microsoft & Cloud Solutions:

* Conduct and support architectural assessments, producing designs and cost estimates that are consumable by both executive and technical audiences.

* Lead Microsoft 365 migrations, ensuring smooth transitions with minimal disruption to client operations.

* Manage M365 and Azure core components, including Users, Groups, Exchange, Azure Active Directory, licensing, and IAM systems (e.g., Azure Entra ID).

* Deploy and configure M365 tools such as Teams, Exchange, Intune, Defender, and Sentinel.

* Support cloud PaaS (Platform as a Service) and IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service), specifically with Azure and AWS.

* IT Infrastructure & Compliance:

* Assess client environments and provide actionable recommendations to improve operations, reduce costs, and enhance security.

* Support regulatory compliance standards such as SOC2, NIST, HIPAA, GDPR, and GxP.

* Deploy and configure Enterprise Applications (Zoom, Adobe, etc.) and their integrations, including Single Sign-On (SSO).

* Implement formal change management practices and procedures in IT infrastructure projects.

* Technical & Engineering Support:

* Serve as a point of escalation on incidents requiring advanced engineering knowledge.

* Handle escalated IT tickets across a variety of clients, leveraging ITIL-based tools, practices, and processes.

* Develop and maintain automation scripts using PowerShell and potentially Python to enhance system management and deployment.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

* BS/BA degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

* 7+ years of overall IT and/or system implementation experience.

* Expertise in enterprise IT engineering support, managing core technology components such as networking, server infrastructure, storage, and cloud computing.

* Strong experience with Microsoft 365 and Azure, including security, device management, and compliance features.

* Experience working in regulated industries (e.g., Life Sciences, Healthcare, Financial Services) and familiarity with SOX, GDPR, HIPAA, FDA/GxP requirements.

* Strong knowledge of Azure Entra ID, conditional access rules, and identity and access management (IAM) systems.

* Hands-on experience deploying and configuring Microsoft Security tools such as Defender, Sentinel, and Intune.

* Experience working with DevOps methodologies, scripting languages (PowerShell, Python), and automation frameworks.

* Certifications preferred: Azure Fundamentals, M365, Microsoft Security, AWS Cloud Practitioner, CCNA.

* Strong business, financial, and technical acumen to develop IT solutions that align with organizational objectives.

* Experience in IT consulting, managing multiple client engagements in parallel, and driving value through trusted client-partner relationships.

* Ability to assess, design, and implement enterprise IT solutions for small to medium-sized businesses.

* Knowledge of digital transformation strategies and modern IT paradigms, including microservices, DevOps, and hybrid cloud environments.

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
