The Proposal Writer will be responsible for developing, implementing and executing written content efficiently and effectively for proposals that include RFIs, RFPs and RFQs within JBenton Construction's brand guidelines.

Responsibilities:

• Participate in strategy meetings and establish a team plan of action with the assigned marketing coordinator to develop the project-specific approach and other responses in adherence to the defined bid/proposal management process.
• Develop written questions and seek clarification from project executives and business development lead throughout the RFP process and remain current on all amendments and modifications.
• Research topics, gather and analyze information and background materials; consult with project team experts to clarify details and develop custom responses, as needed.
• Plan layout of work within the response, arranging sequence of topics for review.
• Maintain records and files of work and revisions.
• Edit, standardize, or make changes to material prepared by other team members participating in proposal development to ensure text for grammar, style and consistency.
• Conceptualize and write compelling, marketing-oriented proposal narrative using proposal archives or from scratch as required.
• Work on multiple proposals, balancing milestones and due dates of each.
• Translate and map technical information into language understood by all levels of clients.

Content Maintenance

• Customize resumes, project experience, and other corporate information as required.
• Maintain the electronic file structure, archive, and procedures for all written proposal content with the assigned marketing coordinator.
• Maintain and improve upon the existing proposal library.
• Sort and archive re-usable sections in proposal information database
• Update text to reflect technological advances within the company and any added services.
• Challenge assumptions and make recommendations that will take our proposal deliverables to the next level.
• Prepare technical briefs for key markets and services for distribution to targeted client groups.
• Support the marketing communication needs of sales and marketing department, and other departments as needed/time allows.

• Strong interviewing skills, face-to-face and on the phone, are essential, as is the ability to translate into the written word the thoughts, concepts and ideas of company executives.

• Demonstrated ability to edit and proof content; strong command of the rules of grammar.
• Must be able to create quality marketing materials under pressure and manage multiple deadlines.
• Must have effective communication skills with individuals at all levels in the company.

Qualifications:

Required Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications or Marketing required.
• 5-7 years’ experience as a writer, with a portfolio of past and current professional work.
• Software skills include advanced MS Office and knowledge of InDesign a plus.
• Experience in writing in the A/E/C industry a plus.
