General Contractor (Commercial & Mission Critical)

This is an opportunity to join a fast-growing general contractor specializing in Commercial Construction & Mission Critical, with a focus on complex commercial renovations within existing buildings. This firm has a strong pipeline of projects and are seeking a Project Executive who is ready to take the next step in their career. This role offers a fast track to a VP or Senior Operations Executive position , as they are actively looking for our next-in-command to help scale the business and run the Chicago office.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead multiple commercial renovation projects within occupied and existing buildings, ensuring quality, budget, and schedule adherence.
• Oversee project teams, including project managers, superintendents, and subcontractors, fostering a high-performance culture.
• Develop and maintain strong client relationships, acting as the primary point of contact for key stakeholders.
• Work closely with ownership to shape the company’s future operations strategy , identifying process improvements and growth opportunities.
• Take an active role in preconstruction, budgeting, and contract negotiations to ensure successful project execution.
• Mentor and develop team members, preparing the next wave of leaders within the organization.
• Contribute to overall business development efforts, helping to secure new projects and expand our footprint in the market.

What We’re Looking For:

• 10+ years of experience in commercial construction, with a strong focus on heavy renovations and adaptive reuse projects.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects from preconstruction through closeout.
• Strong leadership skills, with the ability to influence, mentor, and inspire teams .
• Entrepreneurial mindset – comfortable in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with minimal red tape.
• Strong client-facing skills with a track record of building long-term relationships.
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field (preferred but not required if experience is strong).
