JOB TITLE:

Copy Editor, Branding Iron newspaper

JOB PURPOSE:

Provide editing, proofing and page design supervision of newspaper copy before publication.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Edit all copy prepared for composition.
2. Design and paginate pages for newspaper.
3. Proof all copy after composition.
4. Meet daily with editor or managing editor for consultation and assignment.
5. Maintain regular office hours as assigned by copy desk chief.
6. Other duties as assigned.

REMOTE WORK ELIGIBILITY:

This position provides vital support to campus customers and requires the successful candidate be available to work on campus.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Full-time student
2. Minimum 2.5 GPA
3. Ability to maintain irregular hours, including evenings 3-10 pm.
4. Must be available Aug. 21 and 22 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. for training.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Prior newspaper production, including writing, proofing and editing
2. Thorough knowledge of AP style and BI style
