Staff Management Group is seeking a Packaging Technician Mechanic for our client in Somerset, NJ. Please read the ENTIRE job description and ALL of the job requirements BEFORE applying for this position.

Schedule:

• 1st Shift: 6AM - 2:30PM

Pay Rate:

• $30 - $35 / hour

Job Summary:

We’re seeking a detail-oriented Packaging Technician to operate, maintain, and troubleshoot horizontal and vertical form-fill-seal (HFFS & VFFS) machines. This role ensures efficient packaging of products while maintaining quality, safety, and production standards.

Job Responsibilities:

• Operate horizontal and vertical packaging machines (e.g., pouch, sachet, stick pack systems)
• Set up and calibrate equipment based on product specifications (size, weight, sealing requirements)
• Monitor packaging line performance and adjust settings to optimize output
• Inspect packaging materials and finished products for defects or inconsistencies
• Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on machinery
• Ensure compliance with GMP, safety, and sanitation standards
• Record production data, downtime, and machine performance
• Collaborate with quality control and production teams to meet daily targets

Job Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical training preferred
• At least 3 years’ experience operating HFFS/VFFS machines
• Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with automated packaging systems
• Ability to read schematics and follow SOPs
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Comfortable working in fast-paced, standing environments
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for long periods.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with brands like Bosch, IMA, Viking Masek, or Matrix packaging systems
• Basic knowledge of PLCs and machine programming
• Forklift certification or material handling experience
