We are seeking a NDE Rope Access and Mechanical Technician for a position in Westlake, LA. The Rope Access Technician is responsible for carrying out standard rope access operations to perform maintenance, repairs, and other industrial work tasks on industrial petrol/chemical equipment while on ropes. The technician must have the ability to perform work that is physically demanding, have good communication skills and the ability to assimilate a large amount of new information. Responsibilities may also include rescue operations, technical reports, and administrative tasks. Non-exempt role; Reports to Area Manager; Develops procedures for performance of variety of duties / performs complex duties within established guidelines.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Must have valid drivers license
  • Must have TWIC card
  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Rope Access Certification (Sprat or Irata) required
  • NDT Certification (UT thickness minimum)
  • NCCER Certification a plus
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug test
  • Documentation needed: certifications and resume

Functional Requirements:

Perform general duties associated with NDT of plant assets in accordance with referencing code. Ability to follow and draw isometric drawings. Perform general duties associated with insulation removal / installation of plant assets in accordance with referencing spec and code.

Compensation

Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.

Physical Involvement:

Employee may be required to do the following: climbing ladders, scaffolds, structures, etc. above and below ground level; maintaining balance on ladders, scaffolds, structures, etc.; reaching in all directions, handling and manipulating objects and materials; coordinating the movement of eyes, hands and fingers to operate tools and equipment; lifting 30-50 lbs. from ground level, waist level, and/or overhead; carrying objects, tools, etc.; standing; sitting; walking; seeing with or without correction; hearing with or without correction; following set procedures and standards; applying basic mathematical skills; planning work; comparing and understanding differences in the size, shape and form of lines, figures and objects; picturing and evaluating solid objects from drawings or diagrams using standards that can be measured or checked; following oral and/or written directions, plans and blueprints; reading; writing; ability to recognize and report safety hazards
