Overview Glosten is seeking student interns to work with our naval architecture and marine engineering teams in Seattle, WA and Providence, RI. Glosten is a naval architecture and marine engineering firm that has served the marine industry for over 65 years. We work in teams to accomplish exciting projects in a stimulating, fast-paced, and collaborative environment. We are an employee-owned company drawn to unique and challenging marine projects. We have grown steadily and deliberately to a team of 120 employees who are ready to solve complex problems and think outside the box. As an intern, you will work closely with your group lead and other associates who will help you apply your knowledge and grow your skills on projects that have a significant impact. Our engineering team will help you to roll up your sleeves and apply textbook theory and lab experience to solve real maritime challenges. Responsibilities We are looking for candidates to work alongside engineering staff to support ongoing projects. Opportunities may include: Finite element modeling and structural analysis Seakeeping analysis Resistance and propulsion calculations Structural foundations Stability analysis Climatology Mooring analysis 2D drafting 3D modeling Other tasks as needed Visit our website to learn more about who we are, our projects and clients, and what is happening at Glosten. Qualifications Strong academic background in one or more of the following disciplines: naval architecture, marine structures, hydrodynamics, numerical methods, and statistical analysis Mutual respect for coworkers in a collegial atmosphere Motivation to identify and pursue internal and external professional growth opportunities, including areas outside their specific discipline Interest in the marine industry; consideration of joining the firm permanently following graduation Excellent communication skills; ability to collaborate in inter-disciplinary teams and convey complex ideas clearly to clients and project stakeholders Requirements Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States. Glosten can only consider applicants with unrestricted work authorization in the United States or those eligible for TN visas Students in their junior year at the time of posting or entering their final year of a graduate program Ability to hold a full-time position, 40 hours per week.
