About the Role: The Cardiac Monitor Technician observes cardiac monitors and reports any significant changes or abnormal patterns of the heart rhythm to the nurse assigned to the patient. Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. E.M.T. or certificate of successful completion of Basic Arrhythmia Course with a score of 85%. BLS certification or must obtain within 30 days of hire. Preferred Qualifications: Associate's degree in a related field. Responsibilities: Upholds the standards of nursing practice through careful and skillful observation of monitors. Observes central station monitors constantly. Recognizes changes in cardiac rhythm and reports to the assigned nurse and/or Charge Nurse. Observes and runs rhythm strip with every change in cardiac rhythm. Runs rhythm strip on each patient every four hours and at beginning of each shift. Skills: The required skills for this position include strong analytical abilities, which are essential for interpreting data from monitoring systems and identifying trends.
