The Pharmacist Intern Program is a full-time, 40 hours per week commitment for 10 weeks starting June 3, 2024.
UnitedHealthcare Pharmacy (UHCP) supports health plan pharmacy coverage for over 15 million Americans. As medication costs rise, UHCP is focused on maintaining affordable drug options without compromising quality for our members and healthcare providers. In this internship, you will engage in projects that support the UnitedHealthcare Pharmacy team, connecting directly with healthcare providers, physicians, and office staff regarding upcoming Prescription Drug List (PDL) changes that may affect their patients. You will collaborate with various supporting teams including analytics and clinical to observe and participate in their collaborative processes. Additionally, you can tailor your projects and responsibilities based on your unique interests.
Primary Responsibilities:
Communicate with care providers, physicians, and office staff through calls and faxes.
Document provider feedback and consult with senior clinical pharmacists regarding treatment, drug efficacy, or authorization inquiries.
Shadow UHC pharmacists to gain insights into their diverse roles within the UHCP team.
Collaborate with the analytics team to keep outreach files current.
Support affordability and quality initiatives by working alongside various pharmacy teams.
Create Quick Reference Guides on disease states for providers using clinical guidelines and primary literature.
Collaborate with the clinical team to evaluate clinical programs, supply limits, and new market drugs.
Assist with ad hoc projects for the UHCP team.

Required Qualifications:
Currently enrolled in a Doctor of Pharmacy program with the first year completed prior to the internship start date.
Active Licensure as a pharmacist intern in the state of Minnesota.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship for employment-based work authorization (F-1 students with practical training and candidates requiring H-1Bs, TNs, etc., will not be considered).
Preferred Qualifications:
Cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher.
Completion of at least one Therapeutics Course.
Strong understanding of medical and pharmacy terminology.
Experience in retail or home delivery pharmacy settings.
