Life Science Research Professional 1 (2-Year Fixed Term)

Location: Stanford University, Palo Alto, CA. Full-time, benefits-eligible, 2-year fixed term. The position supports the MOSAAIC study investigating disease patterns in Asian American groups to develop precision medicine strategies. The applicant will independently conduct, analyze, and present experiments under the guidance of CTRU lab leadership.

Duties


  • Plan and execute experiments supporting research projects, applying life science theories to interpret results.
  • Maintain detailed records of experimental procedures and outcomes.
  • Review current literature continually to incorporate new procedures.
  • Assist in writing proposals, presentations, and publications as required.
  • Perform general lab maintenance: inventory, safety records, chemical inventory.
  • Train new staff or students on lab procedures or techniques.
  • Other duties assigned as needed.

  • Degree in Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or related field.

  • Excellent written and oral communication; familiarity with databases, reporting, and performance indicators.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and ability to learn new software.
  • Strong organizational skills; able to troubleshoot unplanned situations while meeting deadlines.
  • Independent, self-motivated work to complete tasks with minimal direction.


Education & Experience (required)

Bachelors degree in a related scientific field.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (required)
  • General understanding of scientific principles; demonstrated performance to use knowledge and skills when needed.
  • Ability to apply theoretical knowledge of science principles to problem solve work.
  • Maintain detailed records of experiments and outcomes.
  • General computer skills and ability to quickly learn and master programs, databases, and scientific applications.
  • Work under deadlines with general guidance.
  • Excellent organizational skills and demonstrated ability to accurately complete detailed work.


Physical Requirements
  • Frequently stand, walk, twist, bend, stoop, squat, grasp lightly, use fine manipulation, grasp forcefully, perform desk?based computer tasks, use telephone, write by hand, lift, carry, push and pull objects weighing over 40 pounds.
  • Occasionally sit, kneel, crawl, reach and work above shoulders, sort and file paperwork or parts.
  • Rarely climb, scrub, sweep, mop, chop and mix or operate hand and foot controls.
  • Must have correctable vision to perform duties of the job.
  • Ability to bend, squat, kneel, stand, reach above shoulder level, and move on hard surfaces for up to eight hours.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in a dusty, dirty, and odorous environment.
  • Position may require repetitive motion.

Working Conditions
  • May require extended or unusual work hours, including weekend work.
  • Will require working in close proximity to blood?borne pathogens by following universal precautions and EHS recommendations.
  • Tasks require personal protective equipment: safety glasses, shoes, protective clothing, gloves, and possibly a respirator.
  • Onsite: Stanfords Research Park or main campus or Redwood City clinic sites.



Pay Range & Benefits
