About the Role

The FSQA Team Leader manages food safety and quality assurance programs to uphold product integrity. This leadership role oversees laboratory operations, coordinates cross-functional teams, and ensures compliance with regulatory and customer standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise lab technicians and sanitation teams, ensuring quality and food safety goals are achieved across shifts.
  • Investigate non-conformance incidents, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective measures.
  • Manage environmental monitoring programs, allergen testing, and chemical analysis to uphold safety standards.
  • Oversee coordination with external labs for specialized testing and collaborate with internal teams for quality improvements.
  • Train and develop staff on GMP compliance, allergen controls, and sanitation procedures.
  • Conduct internal audits and address any identified deficiencies to improve operational standards.
  • Maintain documentation for quality and safety protocols, including labels, logs, and compliance forms.
  • Support process enhancements and participate in strategic initiatives for continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in biology, chemistry, food science, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum 4 years of quality assurance or laboratory management experience in food production.
  • Certifications in HACCP, PCQI, and food defense protocols are highly desirable.
  • Experience with GFSI or SQF systems and advanced food safety practices.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for collaboration and reporting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced knowledge of laboratory operations, environmental monitoring, and allergen management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and quality management software tools.
  • Proven ability to lead compliance training programs and drive team development.
  • Experience conducting food fraud vulnerability assessments and mitigation strategies.
  • Flexibility to oversee multi-shift operations and provide weekend support when necessary.
