Job Description
**JOB PURPOSE:**
The Executive Director oversees the day-to-day functions of the assisted living and/or independent living center in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations that govern personal care homes, and as may be directed by the Area Vice President, to provide appropriate care for our residents.
**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:**
1. Current knowledge of state and federal laws governing the operation of personal care homes
2. Knowledge of licensing and payment programs, general business practices, ADL care practice, psychology of resident care, social services, and environmental health and safety relevant to personal care home operations
3. Practical training in daily facility operations, departmental organization and management, community resources and interrelationships. Able to represent interests of the facility to community, advocacy groups, government agencies and to the public.
4. Knowledge of state personnel licensing and registration requirements.
5. Knowledge of human resources principles, labor laws and union contracts, where applicable, to manage personnel functions and to supervise employees in personnel matters. Able to apply facility personnel policies to facts regarding employment actions without regard to race, religion, age, national origin, sex or disability
6. Ability to apply standards of professional practice to operations of personal care home and to establish criteria to assure that care provided meets established standards of quality
7. Able to foster interdisciplinary cooperation and coordination of quality assurance and quality improvement efforts
8. Demonstrates competency in financial management, budgeting and allocation of resources
9. Ability to develop and implement administrative policies and procedures that reflect the center's philosophy and mission in compliance with federal and state laws and regulations
10. Ability to provide facility leadership
11. Ability to formulate operations strategies and to achieve facility objectives within planned budgets and time frames
12. Sufficient interpersonal skills to interact effectively with residents, family members, surrogates, legal representatives to respond to concerns, promptly resolve grievances and solve problems
13. Demonstrates knowledge of and respect for the rights, dignity and individuality of each patient/resident in all interactions. Demonstrates competency in the protection and promotion of resident rights Able to act as a role model for facility and staff
14. Ability to understand and to follow written and/or verbal directions. Abel to express self adequately in oral and/or written communication.
15. Ability to communicate effectively with staff members, other professional staff, consultants and residents in interdisciplinary care setting and to government agencies. 16. Carries out all duties in accord with the center's mission and philosophy
17. Maintains confidentiality of residents and center's information
18. Demonstrates honesty and integrity at all times in the care and use of resident and center property.
19. Knowledge of emergency and disaster procedures of assisted living facility. Able to locate nearest exit, to understand and respond to written or oral instruction in case of emergency
20. Sufficient mobility and strength to move freely through the building, to assure resident safety at all times and to assist, transfer or otherwise move residents of facility out of danger in case of emergency.
21. Demonstrates respect for co-workers and responds to needs of residents by complying with center's policies on attendance, punctuality and dress code. Able to arrive and begin work on time. Able to respond to centers needs 24 hours a day/ 7 days a week.
22. Working knowledge and ability to comply with center policies and procedures for workplace safety including infection control procedures, application of universal precautions for blood borne pathogens, use of personal protective equipment and handling of hazardous materials.
23. Demonstrates ability to prioritize responsibilities and complete projects within allotted time.
24. Ability to respond to change productively and to additional projects as assigned.
25. Ability to carry out essential functions of this job (with or without reasonable accommodation) without posing specific, current risk of substantial harm to health and safety of self and others.
**MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:**
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Health Administration or related fields is required
**MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:**
As a minimum, two- (2) year(s) of experience in a supervisory capacity in a hospital or long-term care Nursing Center. Should possess a working knowledge of long-term care operational standards set forth in the Federal Register, Requirements of Participation
**MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:**
Current and unrestricted Administrator licensure in state of practice
**ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: (Preferred qualifications)**
Master's Degree in related field preferred
