Description

The Dock Worker is responsible for the loading and unloading of finished product onto trailers for shipping to customers. The Dock Worker must have a complete knowledge of proper loading and shipping procedures to ensure an on-time delivery with no damage to the product. Tasks involve preparation of product for shipping, inputting information into the computer system, and assisting with loading of product onto semi-trailers both manually, with pallet jacks and with forklift.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Operate equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and power rollers to move products
• Inspect and verify the quantity and condition of product
• Sort and stack product according to destination, size, or weight
• Secure the product to prevent damage or loss
• Follow safety rules and regulations to avoid accidents or injuries
• Communicate with co-workers, supervisor and team lead to coordinate work activities and report problems
• Keep track of inventory through scanning system to ensure quantity and on time shipments

Requirements

• Ability to move product using proper equipment and techniques
• Ability to read and follow instructions, labels and other documentation to ship product
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
• Adapt to changing priorities and deadlines
• Understanding of work instructions, trailer layouts and labels
