Job Summary:
To support the mission of Outer West Community Church (OWCC) by creating and executing a strategic vision aimed at empowering adults to draw closer to Jesus Christ and others, while actively engaging in the life of the church community.
Primary Duties:
- Partners with leadership to develop and implement church-wide strategies and events to reinforce our mission to draw people closer to Jesus Christ and each other.
- Cultivate environments that are warm, inclusive, and welcoming, ensuring that guests, attenders, and partners feel embraced and valued.
- Manages and enhances the assimilation procedures and workflows at OWCC for improved effectiveness and expansion.
- Provide pastoral, administrative, and systematic support for Life Group leaders, offering guidance and resources to enhance the quality and effectiveness of group experiences.
- Creates and maintains an annual plan that ensures continuous improvement and growth of group involvement and discipleship.
- Recruit, train, lead and equip staff and volunteers to effectively execute adult ministry programs, events, classes, and groups.
- Identify and respond to emerging needs and trends within the adult congregation, adapting ministry strategies accordingly.
- Partner with leadership and staff to provide oversight for special events, conferences, and retreats aimed at engaging and equipping adults to draw closer to Jesus Christ and each other.
- Provide strategic oversight and equipping of Community Life volunteer teams..
- Serves as a member of the OWCC Pastoral Team, offering leadership and focused care in areas such as preaching, officiating weddings and funerals, hospital visits, teaching, pastoral coaching, and counseling.
- Manages and participates in the annual budget preparation to ensure adequate funds for the assigned area.
- Monitors and approves expenditures; directs and implements budgetary adjustments as necessary.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree from an accredited university in Ministry, Biblical Studies, or related field. A Graduate Degree from an accredited seminary is preferred.
- In certain circumstances, relevant experience may serve as a substitute for formal educational qualifications.
- Five (5) years of progressive pastoral responsibility in Church leadership.
- Licensed and/or ordained pastor.
Knowledge and Abilities:
- Knowledge of Planning Center Online, Mac, PC, Office, and Google applications and equipment.
- Knowledge of principles of supervision, training, and performance management.
- Knowledge of community life ministry best practices.
- Knowledge of discipleship strategies for adults.
- Knowledge of English grammar and vocabulary.
- Knowledge of project management practices, techniques, and methodologies.
- Knowledge of budget development, expense tracking/reporting and administration.
- Ability to work in a fluid and collaborative environment.
- Ability to lead a group to accomplish a common goal.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
- Ability to be empathetic and gracious in all interactions.
- Ability to display relational and emotional intelligence that builds trusted credibility.
- Ability to write, compose, edit, and proofread.
- Ability to coordinate several tasks and projects at once.
- Ability to perform all the physical, intellectual, and analytical requirements of the position including decision making.
- Ability to identify, encourage, recruit and develop culture champions to whom leadership and authority can be delegated to.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively through both verbal and written means.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, members, and ministry volunteers.
- Ability to perform all the physical, intellectual, and analytical requirements of the position including decision making.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Periodic lifting/carrying of items weighing up to 20 pounds; required visual acuity, speech, and hearing; manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination essential for operating a computer keyboard and basic office equipment. Tasks may involve sitting, standing, reaching, walking, twisting, and kneeling to fulfill essential functions. Work primarily takes place within an indoor office environment.
