The Color Specialist is responsible for color matching and tinting. This includes adherence to the highest quality and standards in the coatings industry while using technical and material resources for achieving desired result.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

  • Perform all activities required for matching or tinting coatings for use in industrial, aerospace, or military application.
  • Follows all processes and guidelines for performing tasks, including documentation, spray-outs, and spectrometer readings.
  • Strictly adheres to safety guidelines and rules, environmental and regulatory guidelines, and uses all required safety equipment
  • Collaborates with Quality Assurance to ensure highest degree in final product, meeting required standards, process adherence, and AS9100d logs and reports.
  • Reutilization for resources for rework materials, in accordance with approved procedures from central lab.
  • Maintains cleanliness and quality of the work area and equipment.
  • Accomplishes daily production requirements.
  • Follows approved production methodology.
  • Maintains knowledge of the skills needed, continuously learning, improving, and training for maximizing quality and efficiency.
  • Works with Color Specialist Lead for training, direction, and process in matching colors and production techniques.
  • Communicates with other departments during production process, i.e. Shipping, Customer Service, Filling and/or Packaging, etc.
  • Reports to Distribution Center Operations Manager for overall job direction, performance, duties, priorities, performance, and review.
  • Forklift Operation.
  • Assists in keeping appropriate toner and shop supplies for lab.
  • Willingness to work and cross train in other departments frequently.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Must be able to perceive color, including when matching coatings and samples.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Previous Experience in and demonstrated ability to accurately match color specifications.

Ability to work safely, in a team environment, and the willingness to work cross-functionally.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Willing to work flexible schedule to cover for other employees during their absence.

Good interpersonal communication, Customer Centric, Attention to Detail.

Ability to perform the physical labor necessary

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Bilingual a plus.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of the following software: Inventory and Order Processing (Prophet 21); and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
