Cafeteria Monitor – Breakfast & Lunch Location: M.E Pearson, Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools Job Overview The Cafeteria Monitor supervises students during breakfast and lunch periods, enforcing responsible behavior in the lunchroom. The monitor works closely with staff and administration of the district. The Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools (KCKPS) is a nationally recognized urban school district serving approximately 22,000 students and 60+ languages spoken in students’ homes. KCKPS includes 28 elementary schools, 7 middle schools, and 5 college‑ and career‑academies/high schools. The district employs roughly 4,000 employees, including more than 1,800 teachers. Essential Functions Supervise breakfast and lunch periods to ensure appropriate and responsible behavior. Ensure all activities conform to district guidelines. Communicate and work effectively with school district members and community. React to change and frequent interruptions in a productive and positive manner, meeting deadlines as assigned. Implement the vision and mission of the district. Encourage responsible behavior. Observe and follow all school district policies. Respond to information requests in a cooperative, courteous, and timely manner. Implement and follow all district health and safety policies, including precautions of the Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Control Plan. Perform other tasks and assume other responsibilities as assigned by the building principal. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Physical Demands Employees are regularly required to sit, walk, stand, talk, and hear. Occasionally, employees may lift or move up to 50 pounds, push items of up to 50 pounds, or rearrange furniture.
