Job Description
Johnson College is currently seeking a full-time Automotive Technology Instructor. The Automotive Technology Instructor will be responsible for teaching students the skills necessary to become entry-level technicians in the automobile industry. The instructor should have expertise with brake systems, transmissions, alignments, and repairs; and familiarity with claims, sales and service, or truck/fleet maintenance. The instructor is responsible for course development, delivery, and assessment. The instructor will report directly to the Program Director.
This position will include organizing and delivering class syllabi and objectives in a clear, concise manner; maintaining an organized and safe lab; ensuring training aids, tools, and equipment are maintained and prepared for use in the classroom and labs; keeping accurate records of student performance and making timely submission of academic records; providing students with timely feedback.
The ideal candidate should be able to speak confidently in front of a small crowd and have a passion for recruiting into the skilled trades. All teaching positions request a minimum of an Associate's degree and/or 4/5 years of technical experience. Prior teaching experience is preferred but not required for most positions.
